Mr. Cook Alciati, Principal, specializes in intellectual property litigation with a particular emphasis on patent litigation. He derives a unique understanding of clients’ needs and concerns from years of in-house experience including efficiently and effectively coordinating a major patent litigation campaign involving industry-wide infringement of the company’s patents. This intimate insight into underlying business concerns allows him to coordinate with clients to develop litigation strategies aligned with their key business values.

Mr. Alciati regularly represents clients in district courts around the country and represents clients in inter partes review proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His practice also involves representing clients in appellate matters, principally before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Michael Stimson brings over 25 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, portfolio counseling, and technology transactions. He has served as lead technical counsel in high-stakes U.S. patent cases, trade secret arbitrations, and inter partes proceedings, and he has managed global IP enforcement campaigns.

Before joining Gardella Alciati, Michael held senior in-house roles as General Counsel of Sun World International, LLC and Chief IP Counsel of Genus PLC, where he developed and implemented international IP strategies, managed U.S. and international patent, trade secret, and trademark enforcement actions, and negotiated complex technology licensing deals. His prior law firm experience includes partnerships at Jones Day and Howrey LLP, where he litigated on behalf of Fortune 500 clients and handled appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Federal Circuit and the Ninth Circuit.

Thomas Fleming is an intellectual property and former litigation partner in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He is a veteran trial lawyer with extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation and patent litigation. He has co-chaired numerous jury patent trials, arbitrations and ITC proceedings in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and chemical products. He has been lead counsel in patent and trade secret litigation matters in these life sciences technology areas, as well as in general commercial and products litigations. He has also argued numerous appeals, including before the Federal Circuit.

Thomas has advised Fortune 100 companies on intellectual property aspects of international merger and acquisition matters, licensing and other deal related matters. He litigated matters for DuPont, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Roche, Genentech, ARIAD Pharmaceuticals and Jarden. He has also directed several successful trademark and Lanham Act litigations on behalf of international clients and their U.S. subsidiaries.

Thomas has earned recognition by The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 U.S. and NY Metro, SuperLawyers, and the Best Lawyers in New York. He is also a recipient of the 2010 Legal Aid Society Pro Bono Publico Award.

Honorable Robert J. Morad serves as a Magistrate Judge in Michigan’s 52nd District Court and also maintains a private practice in the areas of commercial litigation and criminal law. Mr. Morad has tried over 90 cases to jury verdict and has handled numerous arbitrations. In his private practice, Mr. Morad handles complex business cases and white collar defense in both federal and state courts. Prior to joining Gardella Grace, Mr. Morad practiced at the law firm of Miller Canfield Paddock & Stone where he worked in the commercial litigation group and the white collar crime group. Mr. James Harris, Of Counsel, has almost 30 years’ experience helping clients identify, protect, and derive value from their intellectual property. Having worked as an engineer inventing digital signal processing systems, in-house counsel for small, mid-size, and large technology companies, and outside counsel representing a diverse range of clients, Mr. Harris brings a uniquely well-rounded perspective to his interactions with inventors and business leaders. His patent experience spans the breadth of electrical, computer, and software engineering, and includes mechanical inventions as well.
